| Tarita Wakalkar Mehendale, is an Arts graduate with a gold medal to her credit. She has additional qualifications in Law. The urge to benefit a larger community with a common cause, made her enter the field of education in 1994 by founding the Shri Chanakya Education Society (SCES). It has been adjudged amongst the top 50 of educational groups in India. As the Founder – Secretary and Chief Managing Trustee of SCES, she established an autonomous institute, Indira School of Management Studies currently known as Indira School of Business Studies. Indira has entered health care sector by introducing Indira College of Pharmacy in the academic year 2006-07. Indira has also started its Engineering College from the academic year 2007-08. |

| In addition to this, Mehendale is also the President of Shri Chalukya Education Society, Indira Education Society and Vishweshwar Education Society. Cumulatively, these societies provide the entire gamut of education right from Kindergarten to Doctorate level. The Indira footprint has now spread to Indore with the inauguration of the Indira School of Career Development in 2008. |

| Under her visionary leadership, SCES has grown from a single institution with a modest strength of 60 students to ten institutes having more than 7000 students from all over India. Her contributions have been recognized by the India Brand Summit, by Yuva Bharti on the occasion of Women's Day 2002, Rotary Club of Poona Airport in 2002-2003. She was awarded the Uddhavshri Award in 2007 and also was awarded the 'Women Super Achievers Award. She has compiled a book, 'Great Quotes from Great Women'. |
