In a career spanning over 20 years Rajiv has made diverse contributions to the world of HR Practice, the world of Academics and has also leveraged his experience to make a contribution the larger industry Fraternity. His experience primarily cuts across various domains of HR & OD after a few early career stints in the areas of plant operations, quality assurance and environmental control. HR has been his field of choosing after working for about six years as a Operations & Quality Assurance Engineer with organizations like Larsen & Toubro and Murugappa Group.

In the last 15 years, Rajiv has worked extensively in the HR domains spanning Performance and Career Management, Training, HR Strategic Planning & Implementation, Leadership Development, HR Analytics, Employer Branding, Performance Coaching and Organizational Development. His specialty has been in the conceptualization, design and deployment of large complex enterprise wide HR systems for global organizations.

Currently Rajiv is Associate Vice President & Head – Organizational Effectiveness (BPO Services) with Tata Consultancy Services. He also holds responsibility as Location HR Leader for BPO Services at Bangalore Center of TCS. He earlier had fruitful stints with the HR Functions at Reliance Industries Ltd and Infosys Technologies.

At TCS he was instrumental in conceptualizing and deploying an enterprise wide system (iCALMS) that integrated Role & Competency Mapping, Learning Delivery and Project Staffing. He has also been instrumental in driving a very robust Academic Interface Program (AIP) with Colleges and Universities that are part of the BPO Services ecosystem through multi-modal engagement resulting in several industry leading outcomes such as offering of multiple industry specific electives at leading colleges and universities that were designed and / or delivered by TCS in-house expertise. He has played a key role in employer branding of the BPO Services industry at colleges and Universities through various contact programs including competitive as well as non competitive knowledge events, industry and career awareness sessions, faculty interface and guest / expert visiting sessions. Rajiv also brought in a focused approach to managing strategy implementation for BPO Services through the Balanced Score Card approach.

Rajiv has also been keenly associated with the world of academics. He has been a Adjunct Faculty at the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode since 2007 where he has taught both Post Graduate as well Doctoral level courses on International HRM and Competency Based HR Systems. Currently he teaches an elective on OD & Change Management for the Post Graduate students of management at Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies at their Bangalore center.

Rajiv is the Lead for a team of industry HR experts under NASSCOM umbrella who are aiming to drive a nation-wide survey on the employment attractors of the BPO industry as well as seeking to understand attrition drivers in this industry. He also contributes as a participating member on two other strategic initiatives for the BPO industry under the NASSCOM umbrella.

In the past he has played a role in contributing to the larger industry fraternity by successfully driving, as program manager, a CII sponsored knowledge sharing initiative under the name of “India Inc., Going Global”. Through this initiative he brought together several leading companies, across Manufacturing, Consulting, FMCG, Information Technology as well as Banking and Financial Services industries, to share and learn from other’s best practices in Leadership Development & Talent Management.

Rajiv is keen on assessing and benchmarking organizational and HR practices and has taken a lead in presenting TCS’s practices at various industry and HR forums and TCS was awarded the BestPrax Compass for Benchmark HR Practices in 2011 and the BestPrax Barometer for Management Governance in 2012. His key contribution to building the employer brand includes positioning the various Business Operations, HR as well as Employment Practices of TCS at appropriate forums and the success of this focus is evident by over forty different awards and recognitions that TCS has bagged over the past three years spanning across every possible domain of HR & Operational Excellence.

Rajiv has been recognized for his contribution to the world of HR by being awarded the “HR Leadership Award” at the 2nd Asia’s Best Employer Brand Awards at Singapore in August 2011. He was also conferred award for HR Leadership at the Global HR Excellence Awards at Mumbai in Feb 2012.

His academic work at IIM Ahmedabad was also outstanding and he received the IFCI Award for his thesis work and also the Chaudhary-Padmanabhan-Pant Award for the Best Thesis Proposal. Rajiv has a Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering from NIT, Warangal and is a Fellow of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
